There are many reasons why you may want to change your iCloud email address. Maybe it was your work email, and now you’ve left the job, or perhaps it’s the same old email you’ve been using for years and just felt the need to change it to your current email.
Whatever the reason, changing your iCloud email is easy, according to the steps below.
Your iCloud email is connected to your Apple ID account. If you want to change your iCloud email, you have to change your Apple ID email. If you used an iCloud email address (@icloud.com) when setting up your Apple ID account, you can’t change it because Apple has assigned it as your primary email account. You can, however, add up to three secondary email addresses to your Apple ID account.
Change your primary iCloud email address
1. Go to appleid.apple.com.
2. Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
3. Click the small Edit button right next to the “Account” section.
4. Click the hyperlink labeled Change Apple ID… located at the top of the account menu.
5. Enter the new email address, then click Continue (this will be your new Apple ID).
6. If you changed your Apple ID to a non-iCloud.com email address, check that email address for a verification code. You need to enter the code. If you did not get the code, you can resend a new code.
7. Once the new email is verified, just go to icloud.com, and sign in with your new email address.
Change your secondary iCloud email address
1. Go to appleid.apple.com.
2. Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
3. Click the small Edit button right next to the “Account” section.
4. Scroll down to “Reachable at,” and click the hyperlink labeled Add more.
5. Tick the box for Email Address and type in the new email you want to use. Next, click Continue.
6. Check your email inbox for the verification code that was sent. Enter the code on the website. You now have a new email address added to your account.

To change your iCloud email address, you’ll have to change your Apple ID’s email address. You cannot change your primary iCloud email address, but you can add up to three secondary email addresses to your account.

- You will lose all third-party apps on your devices that store data in iCloud.
- You will no longer have access to Messages sent to your account via iMessage, iCloud mail, or FaceTime.
- Additionally, you will not be able to access specific Apple tools and services, including iCloud Keychain, Apple Pay, Find My iPhone, Back to My Mac, Game Center, and Continuity.
- Deleting your account will cancel any Apple store appointments you’ve scheduled. Any pending Apple Care cases will be terminated and permanently closed.
Please note that deleting your iCloud email account is permanent and not a temporary fix. The process of deleting your Apple ID/iCloud email account can take up to seven days because Apple will have to verify that you are the owner of the account to be deleted.
