You can send a text message to a Verizon cell phone number through your email without the need for a mobile phone. This is a great nifty feature if you need to send an important message to a friend or a work colleague but don’t have a cell phone with you. You can still contact anyone’s cell phone by sending them a text message through your preferred email client such as Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo! Mail, or iCloud Mail.

Sending a message to a Verizon phone number through your email application works the same way as a text message from one mobile phone to another.

Message limit: Text messages are limited to 160 characters due to the design of the text from email gateway protocol, so consider the character limit when typing your message. Longer messages will be broken into multiple texts. You may optionally enter a subject, which is also included in the 160 characters.
