Many regular Kodi users love watching their favorite movies and TV shows online using Kodi as their preferred streaming service. However, few users know it’s possible to download movies and TV shows from Kodi as media files to your local storage.
Downloading movies and TV shows has an immense advantage over streaming, allowing you to watch them any time you like, without needing an internet connection or buffering issues. This is an awesome feature made possible with the help of some Kodi add-ons.
Elemntum add-on

Real Debrid
You can download movies and TV shows from the real debris website if you have a Real Debrid account. It works with any add-on that is linked to your account.
All you have to do is start playing the movie or TV show you wish to download. Pause play after some seconds and go to real-debrid.com/downloads. You’ll see your watched media – to download the media to your local storage, click “Download.” That’s it! You’ve successfully completed the download.
Exodus Redux or Exodus forks add-on
First, install the Exodus add-on. If you haven’t already, here is the guide to install Exodus. Next, follow the steps below:
1. Launch Kodi on your device.
2. Click “Add-On” and then click “Video add-ons.”
3. Hover over Exodus Redux or Exodus forks add-ons.
4. Click the menu button.
5. Click “Settings.”
6. Hover over “Playback.”
7. Change the Set Auto-play, Directory, or Dialog field to “Directory.”
8. Hover over “Downloads” and click “Enable downloads.”
9. For movies, click “Movies” and then choose the directory where the movies will be stored. Next, click “OK.”
10. For TV shows, click “TV” and then choose the directory where any TV shows you download will be stored.
11. Click “OK” to save your settings.
Fen add-on
Fen is one of the easiest Kodi add-ons to download movies and TV shows because the configuration is ready-made for downloading.
1. Launch Kodi.
2. Click “Add-On” and then click “Video add-ons.”
3. Hover over “Fen.”
4. Click the menu button.
5. Click “Settings.”
6. Hover over “Playback.”
7. Hover over “Downloads” and click “Enable downloads.”
8. For movies, click “Movies Directory” and then choose the directory where the movies will be stored. Next, click “OK.”
9. Do the same for TV shows, click “TV Shows Directory” and then choose the directory where any TV shows you download will be stored.
10. Click “OK” to save your settings.
If you maintain the default value for the Movies Directory field, then the downloaded movies (in Android) in one of the following three directories:
1. /sdcard/Android/data/org.xbmc.kodi /files/.kodi/userdata/addon_data /plugin.video.fen/Movies Downloads
2. [data/sdcard/Android]/data/org.xbmc .kodi/userdata/addon_data /plugin.video.fen/Movies Downloads
3. /storage/emulated/0/Android/data /org.xbmc.kodi/files/.kodi/userdata /addon_data/plugin.video.fen/Movies Downloads
For every TV show or movie you want to download, you’ll need to go through the following:
- Choose the movie or TV show you want to download, the list of sources will appear. Select the source you want and click the menu button. Next, click “Download” from the menu.
- A popup will show up with details such as the name and size of the downloaded video, click “Confirm.”
- You will receive a message periodically about the download progress in percentages. A popup will appear once your download is complete indicating it was a successful process.
- You will find the video stored in the directory you chose.
After you finish, you can the downloaded video using Kodi or any other favorite media player.
