Amazon Prime pricing change
On the 28th of February 2022, Amazon raised its Prime prices.
Amazon Prime free trial, which was previously a 30-day free trial, is now a one-week trial for $1.99, increasing to $14.99 per month after the one-week trial ends but you can cancel anytime. The monthly rate for an EBT/Medicaid discount is now $6.99 per month (previously $5.99).
The price of the monthly Prime membership will increase from $12.99 per month to $14.99 per month, and the price of the annual Prime membership will increase from $119 per year to $139 per year.
For Prime Student members, you can still get a 6-month free trial, after which the price of the monthly membership will increase to $7.49 per month or $69 per year.
For qualifying EBT and government assistance recipients, the price of membership will increase from 5.99 per month to $6.99 per month.
As an Amazon Prime member, I was disappointed to learn that the price of my membership is increasing. I understand that the cost of living is continually increasing, but I think that Amazon could have found a way to absorb the cost instead of passing it on to its customers. I believe that the price increase will cause some people to cancel their memberships, and I think that it is a poor way to treat the people who have been loyal to Amazon for so many years, especially retired seniors, on a fixed income.
Do seniors get a discount on Amazon Prime?
To qualify for the Amazon senior discount, you must have a valid EBT Card or be on Medicaid. If you don’t have either of these, you won’t be able to get the discount.
The Amazon prime senior discount is a great idea, but I wish that more seniors would qualify for it. It would be good to expand the program to include more seniors.
What do you think? Should more seniors be eligible for the Amazon senior discount?
Cost of Amazon Prime senior discount
As a senior, if you are eligible for EBT and select government assistance recipients, you can get amazon prime for $5.99 per month instead of $12.99 per month. But if you are not eligible and irrespective of your age, you can still get a one-week Prime trial at $1.99. Previously, Amazon was offering a Prime free trial for 30 days.
There are many reasons why I believe that every senior should take advantage of the Amazon Prime senior discount if eligible. For starters, the membership fee is very reasonable at only $6.99 per month. In addition, you get access to a wide variety of benefits and perks, such as free two-day shipping, exclusive deals and discounts, and much more. Plus, you can cancel your membership at any time without penalty.
I believe that everyone should also take advantage of the Amazon Prime membership because it offers a one-week trial at $1.99 (previously a 30-day free trial). This is a great way to test out the service and see if it is right for you. If you decide that you don’t want to continue your membership, you can simply cancel it before the end of the trial period, and you will not be charged anything.
So, if you are eligible for the Amazon Prime membership, I highly recommend taking advantage of it. The membership fee is very reasonable at $14.99 per month or $139 per year without a senior discount, and you get access to a lot of great benefits and perks. You can always cancel your membership if you decide that you don’t want to continue it.
